In the latest case against Frank Gerard Klep, the now-75-year-old pleaded guilty to molesting four boys at the Salesian College in Sunbury, and a fifth boy at a school camp in Dromana, during the 1970s and 1980s."You were a prominent member of an institution that was supposed to be about love, compassion and kindness ... but under its cover you perpetrated evil," County Court Judge Gabriele Cannon said during sentencing on Tuesday.
Klep was sentenced to serve five years for the crimes, some of the term to be served cumulative to his current imprisonment, adding an overall two years to his time behind bars.He is currently serving a 10-and-a-half-year prison sentence for molesting 15 schoolboys, many of whom were sleeping when he attacked them.
Klep was in charge of the school infirmary at Salesian College, molesting a number of his victims as they recovered in the sick bay.Another survivor said he now lived in a shed in the bush like a hermit and the crime still "contaminates" him.He has previously been convicted and jailed for abusing 28 schoolboys and was defrocked by the Salesians in 2006.
