As of 26 May, a total of 257 confirmed cases and 120 suspected cases have been reported from 23 member states that are not endemic for the virus, the health agency said in a statement. There have been no reported fatalities so far.WHO also said that the sudden appearance of monkeypox at once in several non-endemic countries suggests undetected transmission for some time and recent amplifying events.

On Friday, Sylvie Briand, WHO's epidemic and pandemic preparedness and prevention chief, acknowledged that the monkeypox cases found in recent weeks outside of countries where the virus usually circulates could be just the beginning. But monkeypox is much less severe, with a fatality ratio of three to six per cent. Most people recover within three to four weeks. While many of the cases have been linked to men having sex with men, experts stress there is no evidence it was a sexually transmitted disease. Rather, it seems to be transmitted by close contact with an infected person who has blisters on their skin.

Student numbers decline at Moreland’s public high schoolsICYMI: Families in Melbourne’s north are increasingly rejecting their local public schools in favour of private secondary schools, saying public high schools in their area are below-par. Because the federal government pays significantly more per student in the private system. Public schools are being left behind. Interesting that you want to talk about it now after the election; no media wanted to discuss serious underfunding of public schools a few weeks ago. The gentrification of Brunswick is complete MarieColemanAO ICYMI Think you'll find they're mostly called state schools or government schools in Vic Not public schools
