Minister's stark warning for Sydney: respect the rules or we'll shut the parks | michaelkoziol

Planning and Public Spaces Minister Rob Stokes has threatened to shut the city's parks and gardens if Sydneysiders cannot stay off the grass and respect self-isolation and social distancing guidelines.

"For now, I'm keeping our parks and public spaces open, and I encourage others - councils, universities, schools - to do the same," he told. "Closing our parks is a last resort but it will happen if people don't follow social distancing rules."Young people were photographed congregating at a St Kilda park in Melbourne on Friday, while images of a packed Bondi Beach last weekend forced the state government to intervene, leading councils to close their iconic beaches.

michaelkoziol shut down before it’s too late as symptoms show that people don’t want to give up the freedom of liberty to that of the virus

michaelkoziol No fair go anymore. No damn values at all. We do as we like, and to hell with all the rules. They're for other people; we make our own.

michaelkoziol Ahh... it’s good to see Rocket Rob ‘I’m on a career path’ Stokes sticking his head out at last with a typical thought bubble auspol auspolnsw

michaelkoziol Just do it ! No one is listening !!!

michaelkoziol Too late - my parks hosting soccer, picnics, touch footy it’s been even busier than I’ve ever seen it before. Watching people scrunched up on the a bench right now!. What you going to do throw them in jail?

michaelkoziol How to fight a pandemic that is spreading rapidly? Rely on people to just ‘follow the rules’. Brilliant. I’ll stay at home for 6 months thanks.

michaelkoziol Oh, dear, that really frightens me; pathetic. Break the rules or we will fine you thousands of dollars AND arrest you

michaelkoziol Jst shut it down.. we will fill our taxes at our own speed
