Millions in tolling deposits to be paid back to Sydney motorists | Rabe9

More than $60 million in tolling credits will be refunded to Sydney motorists as the NSW government moves to phase out its E-Toll deposit system.

Opposition roads spokesman John Graham said the government should not frame the refund as toll relief, given motorists were only getting back the credit for what they had already spent. Close to 1 million trips are taken on Sydney’s toll roads every day and the top 15 per cent of motorists spend more than $40 a week, or $2000 a year. However, close to 60 per cent of drivers spend less than $10 per week on tolls.
