The strike has been deemed as "unnecessary" by Yarra Trams CEO Julien Dehornoy, and hits the city after two days of transport mayhem.

Tuesday's city trams strike came with the cancellation of several Victorian regional train services amid safety concerns from more than 100 drivers.
