Minister for Women Marise Payne has refused to say whether she thinks a Liberal candidate who has been forced to apologise multiple times for controversial comments about transgender people should be removed from the campaign.
Katherine Deves was hand-picked by a panel including Prime Minister Scott Morrison to be the Liberal candidate for the seat of Warringah in Sydney, currently held by independent MP Zali Steggall. She has since had to apologise on multiple occasions after a number of deleted social media posts resurfaced, including ones where she likened her lobbying to stop transgender athletes from competing in women's sport to standing up against the Holocaust.
Mr Morrison, who said he was "very pleased" to have played a role in appointing her as a candidate, has stuck by Ms Deves despiteOn Sunday, Senator Payne was asked multiple times whether she thought Ms Deves should be dropped as a candidate."I don't agree with the remarks she made, I've made that explicitly clear.
"Ms Deves has apologised for those remarks, withdrawn those remarks and that's the most important thing as she continues there as the candidate in Warringah.

That's because she like most LNP candidates can't stand up and make a statement about the unsuitability of a captains puck without jeopardising their future

Morrison wasn’t ignorant about Deves background when he picked her. The seat of Warringah was never in play for the Libs. His support for Deves attitudes though may sit well with many in those outer suburban seats of Sydney and Melbourne.
She didn't have that answer written down in front of her like her other answers to questions that had been given to her in advance,we need these parasites to answer questions spontaneously so we can judge their intelligence and character.
Was the first time I have seen Mr Speers actually persist and repeat questions that the minister was refusing to answer - making the obfuscation very obvious.

Some how or another this has become a women in sports issue that should be talked about but the tweets and remarks by the MP is a seperate issue her tweets were against the 🏳️🌈 LGBT community nothing to do with sports, the sports was brought into it because she backed the bill.
