Daniel Andrews' leadership 'under threat' following 'draconian health orders' | Sky News AustraliaLiberal Senator Sarah Henderson says the leadership of Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews is now “under threat” following the state's Belt and Road deal with China and his latest coronavirus health order announcement which is “absolutely draconian”. \n\nVictoria will introduce a public health order on Monday which will prohibit people from returning to their workplace if they have been working from home throughout the coronavirus crisis.\n\nPremier Daniel Andrews announced businesses would face hefty fines for breaching the order as health authorities warned the risk of a second wave was too great to allow people to return to work.\n\nMr Andrews said public transport could only operate at 15 per cent due to social distancing measures and heavy congestion on state roads was not a viable option.\n\nMs Henderson told Sky News host Peta Credlin Daniel Andrews has implemented “absolutely draconian fines” and is now facing “so much internal strife” over the order and the state’s signing up to the Bent and Road Initiative with China. \n\n“I just cannot believe what we are seeing from Daniel Andrews now,” she said. \n\nImage: Getty SenSHenderson Andrews is the Most Respected Premier I would say in Australia. Govt energy policy producing 'emissions reduction trifecta' | Sky News AustraliaEnergy Minister Angus Taylor says Australia is getting the 'trifecta' of lower gas prices, lower electricity prices and lower emissions as a result of the government's investment in 'technology not taxes'.\n\nThe latest data revealed Australia's emissions had decreased by 0.9 per cent, but factored COVID-19 and drought as contributors to the reduction. \n\n'The critical thing you see in the data is domestic emissions have been falling rapidly and for a long while. In fact, we've already beaten our 2030 target,' Mr Taylor said.\n\nMr Taylor ruled out increasing Australia's Paris targets arguing the existing target was 'strong' and would be beaten by '411 million tonnes'.\n\n'That's essentially a year's worth of emissions. We set a target and we beat it.'\n\n'We think gas is an important part of the mix. Despite the US leaving the Paris Agreement, their emissions are coming down rapidly and that's because of gas.'\n\nImage: News Corp Australia\n\n AngusTaylorMP we have so much gas in this country, how is it they run this 'energy market' scheme and drive prices up when there is no shortage? essential services should be regulated and run as a benefit to society. also emissions have been going up from our coal AND gas producers. AngusTaylorMP Emissions? Who is measuring all the volcanoes, including those unknown undersea? What a load of croc. By all means live a waste free, anti consumption life but to these big $making dirty ‘green’ industries don’t be impoverishing all of us! Thanks AngusTaylorMP What a load of bullshit. Electricity and gas prices have not gone down. Even when the wholesale price has dropped, the retail price hasn't, and with some retailers it has even risen under Taylor. He is a compulsive liar, but scarily seems to believe his own lies, bloody grub.

US failure to recognise 'systemic racism' hinders progress | Sky News AustraliaSky News contributor Jason Israel says there isn't a clear recognition of 'systemic racism' in the United States and argues this has hindered the reparation of past hurt among the African American community.\n\n'Opponents of that term say it means everybody in the system is racist which may not be the case. It actually means the system we've developed over the last 100 years has been unequitable for minorities,' Mr Israel said.\n\n'If people can't even just recognise that, then they can't even begin to address the problem which in one way is manifesting itself in Minneapolis.'\n\n'In my hometown of Baltimore, there were laws that didn't allow black soldiers coming back from WWII, even with the G.I. Bill, to get a home loan that white people did. That's just over 70 years ago.'\n\nImage: AP\n\n Complete BS. What’s holding the USA back is any and all discussion of race, as propagated by the left. Only one side of politics recognise you because of the colour of your skin, while the other judges you on the content of your character. While people label on skin colour it will never be united. People who never owned slaves shouldn't pay people when weren't slaves. What does the MN Police manual say about using a knee restraint to the neck of a person being arrested? Training: For whom, when, how, duration, checking the condition of the restrained person, key do's & dont's, etc. Clearly, the MN officer got this entirely wrong, why?

Government must step in because 'banks can't do any more' | Sky News AustraliaSydney Morning Herald Senior Economics Correspondent Shane Wright says the process of rolling out government financial support schemes “has not been easy” for Treasury and they are still fine tuning how to roll them back. \n\nMr Wright told Sky News RBA Governor Phil Lowe was “emphatic” that the government should not “pull fiscal support out too early”. \n\n“There are those inside the government, right, let’s try and race back or get back to some sort of semblance of that budget surplus that was so tantalizingly close to them, they want to get back in that space,” he said. \n\n“But the banks can’t do any more.\n\n“So the argument that we have to leave the heavy lifting to the Reserve Bank, it’s null and void now so Josh Frydenberg is actually going to have to come out with ways to support the economy over the next year, 18 months.” \n\n

Government must do 'much better' to support Australians: Albanese | Sky News AustraliaLabor leader Anthony Albanese has called on the Morrison government to provide an economic plan to guide Australian businesses and neglected sectors out of the coronavirus crisis. \n\nSpeaking to the media on Friday, Mr Albanese said “the government has continued to show contempt” and has allowed people to be left out of support schemes such as the JobKeeper program. \n\n“These are people who have paid taxed their whole lives” but have now been “forgotten by the government,” he said.\n\n“We need to do much better.\n\n“What we actually need is a government that actually looks at a transition ... we need a transition in terms of JobKeeper and support. \n\n“We also need specific sector programs, and the arts and entertainment sectors are ones that stand out as needing support in order to maintain viability. \n\n“This is important not just for our national economy, it attracts international dollars in terms of tourism and economic activity as well.” \n\nImage: News Corp Australia AlboMP They are it's called the Budget AlboMP What a genius idea, I wonder if the govt in power have thought of that yet. AlboMP wow each way Albo is really quick. I am pretty sure Scomo did that at the press club on Tuesday.
