Emergency services have rescued a man hiking the Larapinta Trail by helicopter after he activated an emergency locator beacon on Saturday afternoon.Emergency services reached the him about 9:30pm SaturdayThe man, 60, became ill and activated his personal locator beacon at 4:40pm Saturday, NT Police said.
Personnel from NT Police, NT Emergency Service and St John NT reached the man shortly after 9:30pm Saturday evening, police said. He was then airlifted to Standley Chasm where a waiting ambulance transported him to Alice Springs Hospital.
I'm all for an adventurous lifestyle but who pays for the rescue of an apparently I'll equipped and unprepared individual venturing into hostile territory. How much did taxpayers have to fork out for this rescue? (Probably many 10s of thousands). How much this this bloke pay? 0
