Australia’s state and territory leaders have reviewed updated advice for reopening Covid-19 hot spots after weeks of fiery disagreement on the national plan.

The new analysis warns the “importation of the Delta variant into every Australian jurisdiction is now inevitable”, but says restrictions including stay-at-home orders and travel bans should remain in areas of concern even when 70 per cent of the eligible population is vaccinated.

Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison met with state and territory leaders on Friday. Picture: Newswire/Gary RamageNSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian has committed to reinstating many freedoms to millions of locked down residents next month when the state hits its 70 per cent double dose target, while Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews is expected to announce his own road map out of lockdown on Sunday.

These targets will need to be combined with appropriate test, trace, isolate and quarantine practices, and public health and social measures to control transmission and manage capacity of the health system. But the institute said medium restrictions would “improve outcomes” between the 70 per cent and 80 per cent threshold in places where daily case numbers were in the thousands, because the ability to effectively test, trace and isolate was compromised.

China slams ‘prejudiced’ Aus military pactChina continues its angry response to the monumental and historic security pact signed by Australia, the United States and the United Kingdom. Tell us again China, who is building missiles, taking over islands and using bullying tactics. We Australians just want to live in peace and not have another country bullying us. Be gracious and show kindness. Why can't we make plans to further our defence without allowing the enemy to know exactly what at when we are doing things just like the enemy does So no more $hit quality steel 🤦🏼‍♂️ What ever will we do 🤔
