Australians may have hit peak toilet paper hoarding but signs are growing they are now storing away alcohol and buying home office equipment in preparation for months of movement restrictions.
ANZ economists Adelaide Timbrell and David Plank said it appeared people may not have much room left in their kitchen pantries or cupboards."A slowing of year on year growth in groceries and toiletries suggests that the average household is either stocked up already or becoming less concerned about supply chain issues for the essentials," they said.
Australian shoppers are moving on from tinned tomatoes to canned beer as they prepare for movement restrictions to deal with the coronavirus pandemic.
swrighteconomy Rang Woollies today & explained that today was my 9th week of No toilet paper & asked that as a priority online customer when I might finally get some & the answer was 'no idea; maybe never because we can't prioritise priority shoppers over customers that visit the actual store!
swrighteconomy That's alright I don't drink so store away all you want just leave my toilet paper alone been four weeks since I bought a pack..
swrighteconomy Not in Granville, TP wasn't on the shelves at Woolies yesterday.
swrighteconomy So?
swrighteconomy This hysteria is costing more, creating more problems and will kill more than the virus ever will.
swrighteconomy Nooooooooooooooooo
swrighteconomy lol too funny
swrighteconomy
swrighteconomy Why are all the packs in the article picture huge, bulk packs? That is the 1 reason for the empty shelves. For every 30-pack for 1 shopper the supermarket could stock 5x6-packs for 5 shoppers. Selling bulk packs during a shortage is idiotic - almost criminal.
swrighteconomy If you run out of TP, don't forget Murdoch's newspaper..

swrighteconomy I live in Wollongong & am on my 8th week of not seeing ANY toilet paper or buying any toilet paper & I have not got ANY with Woollies priority assistance shopping online either (I'm a Carer) .I tried to order again today with no luck so I dispute that 'hoarding' is over;it isn't!
swrighteconomy If it is over then why can’t we still buy TP at supermarkets or is it that Coles, Woolies, Aldi and IGA are hoarding and only putting a few on shelves at a time.
swrighteconomy Phew.. thank goodness I’m ahead f the game this time! 😂😂😂
swrighteconomy I think my dog is depressed 🐾or maybe I’m depressed! Can’t go out for a coffee or a beer, not even an ice cream & we’re told we live in the Lucky Country 😂
swrighteconomy I found red meat had returned yesterday, and finally found a bag of oats after weeks. No TP to be seen though.
swrighteconomy Watch out it will be going overseas.
swrighteconomy who wrote this? lol. I still cant find any toilet papers in supermarkets.
swrighteconomy 'MOVEMENT restrictions'? Boom tish!
swrighteconomy Been trying to buy toilet paper for 4 weeks still can't find any
swrighteconomy Oh hell! I better get right out now and get me some office equipment. Stop it peanut brains. Stop whipping us dumb bums into a frenzy.
swrighteconomy Umm....I visited seven supermarkets in Adelaide today and came out with ZERO rolls of toilet paper.
swrighteconomy Smart people were doing this months ago - all the dummies are now playing catch up
swrighteconomy No worries, this is Australia, the grog will never run out.
