MORNING BRIEFING: The Bureau of Meteorology says the wild weather is not over, with more hail and intense winds on the way, while the Sculpture by the Sea arts festival fails to secure permission to go ahead.

This storm system was seen near Redhead Beach in Newcastle yesterday.

"Not too much rain came out of the storm but we did see 29 millimetres in Mona Vale on the northern beaches," Bureau of Meteorology forecaster Hugh McDowell said. Organisers of the event abandoned their plans to host the delayed event this autumn due to ongoing concerns around the latest clusters. The 2-kilometre walk will go ahead with the same line-up of artists, said event director David Handley.

Late last year NSW Transport Minister Andrew Constance promised to save at least one ferry — the Collaroy —from the fleet of four. Both ferries will be used on weekends to carry tourists across the harbour.
