A leaked email has revealed Victoria's government requested military assistance last week to help cope with the state's rise in coronavirus cases.

A leaked email has revealed Victoria's government requested military assistance last week to help cope with the state's rise in coronavirus cases. Emergency Commissioner Andrew Crisp reportedly sent a "high priority" email to the Home Affairs and Defence Department asking for 850 Australian Defence personnel to help with the quarantine program. Premier Daniel Andrews insisted no request was made.

Premier Andrews has also refused to explain why private security contractors were used to monitor hotel quarantine instead of military or police personnel. As a coronavirus testing blitz continues in 10 declared hot-spots across Victoria, authorities revealed more than 10,000 people refused testing because they believed the virus was a conspiracy. The Premier refused to rule out whether more suburbs would be placed into lockdown should an upswing in cases continue.
