Australia could face a deeper public health crisis because jobless temporary visa holders are unable to access welfare and are at risk of homelessness | annapattysmh

Australia could face a deeper public health crisis because jobless temporary visa holders are unable to access welfare and are at risk of homelessness.

With no income, the researchers say many are struggling to pay rent or see doctors - even if they have symptoms that should be reported - and many will be tempted to move to cash jobs in the underground economy to survive, raising the risk of infection. "I'm lucky that my parents can help me financially, but there are so many of my friends whose families are under quarantine and can't support them financially."

AnnaPattySMH Sorry but... our resources are stretched. If my parents had to find $15k to get back to Australia w/ no tax payer assistance so they didn’t have to be burdens to tax payers in the country that they’re only visiting in, the backpackers can do the same. & no, my parents aren’t rich

AnnaPattySMH Let me get my violin to play a sad song. There's plenty of CITIZENS that need help BEFORE thinking of forcing taxpayers to help WEALTHY FOREIGNERs staying here on visas

AnnaPattySMH In a seperate article it states there are 500,000 here on student visas, I don’t know how we can afford to extend the social support network that far...if people can go home they probably should...

AnnaPattySMH Let's be honest. Wouldn't you rather be homeless in Australia or return to the Communist hellhole that is China Or the EU, during a global pandemic.

AnnaPattySMH For those stranded in Australia, the Immigration Minister to discuss and secure a Financial Welfare plan from their respective Embassies in Australia. Ppl not stranded to return to country of origin. All of these ppl r not Australia’s responsibility.

AnnaPattySMH Go home, our own citizens need medical and economic aid.

AnnaPattySMH They need to go home.

AnnaPattySMH Then let your own government look after you. You're a citizen of another country? Your own government should be seeing to your economic needs. Just as we should be seeing to our own.

AnnaPattySMH Go home

AnnaPattySMH Go home

AnnaPattySMH 'We pay tax, we contribute to the society, we deserve better,' she said bullshit Really? She has not earned n pay taxes for years Studying politic ? what a waste?

AnnaPattySMH These foreign nationals, who stayed when they should have left, are opportunistic. They’ve chosen not to return home. They’ve decided to stay & press this country into caring for them. Ditto the cruise ships. They must all go home. Their governments must provide welfare & support

AnnaPattySMH Also, why do they not have a return ticket?

AnnaPattySMH Shouldn't their home countries be looking after them?

AnnaPattySMH we have 1mil foreign temps n 500k Kiwis it would crazy to put them on our dole queue They should go home

AnnaPattySMH All non citizens either by birth or papers should be leaving. If they can’t afford to then pay for them to leave. In a nutshell this virus is the streetlights & they’re on pretty bright so it’s time to go home. Give a tax refund.

AnnaPattySMH They come to Australia with the understanding they cannot access the welfare. They either take the risk or go home.

AnnaPattySMH Best to buy them tickets home if they can't afford it themselves

AnnaPattySMH They really need to go home, it’s best for everyone, win win, we can’t afford it , Australians first.

AnnaPattySMH They need to go home not racism it’s just Australians need to come first these people should be home with their families

AnnaPattySMH If aust brings their citizens home why aren’t their home countries looking after them

AnnaPattySMH They should return back. As it’s we are struggling for our own people

AnnaPattySMH Seems like the Morrison govt has found itself in a difficult situation: - over a million people here on temporary visas - many may not be supported by current stimulus measures - desperate people may negatively influence public health initiatives auspol COVID19au

AnnaPattySMH We must come together we live in this world together so we should be concerned about each other wellbeing.

AnnaPattySMH Sounds like a typical ScottyFromMarketing policy left over from his days of turning back the boats

AnnaPattySMH SMH batting for underhanded LABOR Greens Globalist policies. Jobless to create more spread is NOT even logical! Only an idiot uneducated journalist would say something like that😂 SMH THE FAKE NEWS GLOBALIST JOKER

AnnaPattySMH these people need to go home

AnnaPattySMH We need to show some compassion here

Majority of economists are failures and epidemiologists are not. Yeah well I’d read it but you try to charge me every time so bugger off

PM dismisses calls to slash public servant salaries amid crisis | Sky News AustraliaThe Prime minister has dismissed calls to slash the salaries of public servants during the COVID-19 health and economic crisis. \n\nMeanwhile, cash-strapped commercial tenants could be given the right to break leases, as the national cabinet discusses rent relief and possible further restrictions. These lazy incompetent public servants will make a killing on the housing market since the banks will only be lending to borrowers with secure jobs. That's not a good look for the P.M. after all the good work done so far is it. This virus is a mess globally. I think a review is required in time. The virus isn't slowing down, it's getting a lot worse at home and abroad.
