OPINION: The idea that pay rises cost jobs is a lazy cop-out from a Coalition government that has no program to boost the productivity of Australia’s workplaces.

From factory floors to hospital wards and office towers, workers put in. They get on with the job, so they can look after themselves and their families.

The cost of a leg of lamb for a Sunday roast is up 49 per cent since the Coalition took over. And if you want to wash it down with a cold beer, the price of your favourite brew has climbed by 26 per cent. During nearly a decade in office, the Coalition has had no productivity agenda. And instead of fostering workplace collaboration, they have stoked conflict to satisfy their ideological distaste for the union movement.

As transport minister in the previous Labor government, I worked with my state and territory counterparts to reduce the number of transport regulators sector from 23 to just three. However, as we have seen during the COVID-19 pandemic, Mr Morrison’s habit is to pick fights with Labor state governments, rather than working with them for national progress.

Joke! 😕 Inflation means everything is already on the move again...

This guy is who

Good start now print the rest of ALP POLICIES I DARE YOU!

Because 'the labour productivity' concept, in the world of the capital-intensive economic growth, is in itself an absurd.

Boost productivity? We don't even make anything.

Of course they will. We already have the highest payed tradies in the world but hey, let pay them more. Must say, Albo, really doesn’t get the big picture.

Liberals propped up the economy by feeding residential property and immigration. This lazy economic ponzi scheme is about to fail. They will try to stop wage rises to curve inflation. But even this will fail.

Except when the Coalition talk about productivity the ALP criticise them by saying productivity is already high and for inferring Australians are not working hard enough

🤦‍♀️🤦‍♂️

Yes can’t not give people wage rises, we need to take more tax when we get in

Surely this is just common sense. When workers have more money in their pockets they are going to spend more. Workers are the grease that keeps the wheels well oiled. AlboForPM

He only knows about rorting and excels at it. Defence contracts being one of the major concerns (due to the size of the $$$ involved) with rorting/corruption. That’s what he was put up there to do.

Very true. Australia will be better with modern Labor. Sensible considered people who believe in a functional community. Not a Darwinian dog eat dog battle of survival of the fittest, where opportunists play a zero sum game; a dysfunctional society where only 20% can live a normal life.
