The ABC said Ms Liu was president of the party’s eastern multicultural branch when it put forward a motion at a state council meeting seeking to relax the rules and warning against “xenophobia” against foreign investment.

The party argued the amount was disclosed by the party itself and was not a donation that required a separate disclosure by Ms Liu to the Australian Electoral Commission. The promise came after Ms Liu confirmed last Wednesday that she was an honorary member of the Guangdong provincial chapter of the China Overseas Exchange Association between 2003 and 2015, a link she had not acknowledgedThe Liberal Party is backing Ms Liu at a cocktail party in the Melbourne suburb of Burwood next week where former Victorian premier Ted Baillieu will be a special guest.

CroweDM The Parliament has spent days playing politics on the Gladys Liu issue. It’s wrong in stopping all important business pertaining to the economy. Set a couple of days at the end of this session of Parliament to discuss Liu and concentrate on getting Australia moving now.
