Kurdish refugees describe Donald Trump as a traitor as he suggests a small group of US soldiers might remain in Syria to protect oilfields.

"If they didn't go through two-and-a-half days of hell, I don't think they would have done it," Mr Trump said.

Mr Trump said they had been fighting for 300 years, seemingly referring to the Kurds and Turkey, who have been at odds for the past 40 years. He said it would be too dangerous to leave US troops in the country, but some may remain to protect Syrian oilfields from Islamic State militants."We want to keep the oil, and we'll work something out with the Kurds so they have some money … maybe we'll get one of our big oil companies to go in and do it properly."

To secure Syria’s oil... I think that’s what you want to say. Oil which is none of America’s business. Hands off Syria

Why doesn't ABC mention every minute the US are there they are there illegally? 'protect oil fields' Translation: looting Syria's resources and also preventing Syrians accessing heating fuel this winter. Old people and children will suffer even die. The ABC never mentions this.

After Trump orders the US troops to retreat from Kurdish area, I come to believe Trump has a special relationship with Russia.

Afghanistan opium production well protected also. Obama had that all sorted. Production trippled. 🤡🤡

Wow a president that tells the truth, fancy that! When hasn’t it been about the oil!! 🙄🙄🙄🙄

If this is the best the ABC's got then a presume they are not happy Trumpf looks like ending the 100 yr old civil war between the Turk's and Kurd's 😥😥.

It’s only ever been about the oil.

America - an oil company with an army auspol

It must be another quid pro quo with Erdogan to ensure oil supply from the region previously sold to Turkey by ISIS.

Oil more important than Human Life...

'Adla Issa says US President Donald Trump is a traitor'

finally, he came to the point. that was one and only intention of war in middle east.

Our mandate was to be there for ISIS. Period. Not the Kurds. It's not why we put troops there. It's the UN's job to keep the peace.

Good on Don, can't wait for him to win 2020 Wow SBS, don't try to hide your opinion in this supposed news article. There was a time when news pieces were written with objectivity. You haven't even bothered to include pertinent historical facts, like the fact that the Kurds have been fighting with Turkey for generations.

Kurdish civilians throw potatoes, stones at US military vehicles leaving SyriaAmid anger over Donald Trump's order to withdraw troops from Syria, videos show residents of two Kurdish-dominated cities pelting US military convoys with potatoes and stones. They were never really a 'Ally' Looks terrible Trumpy may have ended the 200 yr civil war between the Turk's & Kurd's, i'm sure the media will give Trumpy some credit 😉. Wasn't the US military there for training purposes only and there was only about 1,000 there?

'Death to the betrayers': US troops leave northern Syria as Kurdish fighters withdrawThe United States evacuates Sarrin military base — the last major US base in northern Syria — with convoys of American troops crossing into Iraq. Exactly the outcome was looking for, now with the suggestion of attack on the US they can reignite the ' War on terror'. Self fulfilling prophecy, 37 countries have fallen into this category for the yanks since the end of ww2, 30 million killed. Whose the terrorist again. Looks like maybe President Trump may actually fix the big O's horror show, after he decided to intervene in both Libya & Syria, then let his 'red-line' to be crossed, and the best headline we get is 'Death to the betrayers'. America making the world safe from terrorism by....creating terrorists
