The Pentagon confirmed the strike, which was an apparent response to rocket attacks against US targets in Iraq.Also a decision to strike only in Syria and not in Iraq would give the Iraqi government some breathing room as it carries out its own investigation of a February 15 attack that wounded Americans.The airstrike was the first military action undertaken by the Biden administration, which in its first weeks has emphasised its intent to put more focus on the challenges posed by China.
"This proportionate military response was conducted together with diplomatic measures , including consultation with coalition partners," the Pentagon's chief spokesman, John Kirby, said in announcing the strikes. "The operation sends an unambiguous message: President Biden will act to protect American and coalition personnel.
"At the same time, we have acted in a deliberate manner that aims to deescalate the overall situation in eastern Syria and Iraq."
President Biden is doing the right thing to the Syrian people who suffered all these years from the oppressive ruling regime and their Iranian’s militias allies.
