Jetstar hoses down concerns a major breach of NSW coronavirus screening protocols at Sydney Airport could lead to new outbreaks of the disease, saying passengers were screened in Melbourne.

Jetstar has hosed down concerns a major breach of NSW coronavirus screening protocols at Sydney Airport could lead to new outbreaks of the disease.Jetstar's CEO has rejected claims the bungle was similar to the Ruby PrincessPassengers on Jetstar Flight JQ520 from Melbourne to Sydney were allowed to disembark on Tuesday night"They [the screening protocols] are different in every state and that causes confusion," he said.

Most of the passengers were able to be screened before they left the terminal but 48 passengers left the airport and had to be followed up later by NSW Health officials. "All of the follow-up action has occurred, and I'm pleased to say that five, the final five, are being tested today," Dr Chant said.

"The screening has taken place, it's just that the double-check of screening didn't happen straight away.

That photo! Makes him look like a total villain!

Can Jetstar CEO Gareth Evans explain why covid precautions were NOT practiced by cabin crew in this photo?

It is a proven fact that Victoria is incapable of proper virus control. After they gave the ok to someone who was tested positive out to cross the border into SA actually starting a small outbreak some months ago. The airportbears responsibility as it is the point of first entry.

Plenty of fails here Starting with Jetstar next The company that runs the airport for profit. The airport has special rights to interfere with travelers they should have detained and notified. No excuse for not doing this. Who owns the FAC?

Of course they are very different. One floated on the ocean, the other came by sky.

Scott Morrison doesn't have a trophy that says he stopped planes

WRONG. It may not be Jetstars issue, but someone had to have been there to check this, or is locking down Victoria false.

In what way is it different?

Yes it was a plane

No it's NOT, you knew Victoria has had increases in cases and yet you FAILED to do basic checks.... incompetent fool!

😂

Great straight faced delivery!

No dickhead it’s the same shit just a different boat. The CEOs of Jetstar and qantas need to go!

Jetstar should be fined

Of course he would

Did he say that with a straight face? Sociopath.

It’s the same virus.

Yeah, one happened at Circular Quay, one happened in Mascot. Completely different.

Jetstar definitely now the Ruby Princess of the sky

‘One is a sky machine, one is a water machine.’

No it’s as deplorable unprofessional & cld result in death of vulnerable ppl as did the RubyDutton fiasco it’s actually worse as it’s months later&awareness shldbe higher actions stronger not weaker sloppier&training top priority WHY ISNT THIS THE CASE .ScottMorrisonMp .AlboMP

Well he is right, one was a ship the other a plane, quite a bit of difference really, one goes on the water the other in the air

He’s right you know. One’s a ship, the other’s a plane. ‘Very different’ in my view. Worth a bonus.

Methinks Jetstar is hoping it can con you with that one to save their own arse. Think again.

What a stupid thing to say. How can the mode of transport impact on the outcome?

Degrees of fiasco... Lol

That’s what you get for flying on a budget airline. Jetstar is a subsidiary or Qantas...

Funny how these serious breaches in NSW are treated with kid gloves by our media but if it happens in Victoria it's a major issue. The MSM make me sick and I include the ABC in that. Their blatant bias is unacceptable.

Goodluck NSW after this debacle

Screening is not testing, you rely on honesty......also the screening in Victoria was rushed due to the closures......

No, it's not and we all will have to face the consequences.

What’s been happening at Newcastle & Byron Bay airports in regard to direct flights from Vic since start of Vic hols? Same as happened in Sydney?

Bs

The term “unfortunate”, from the CEO, is corporate speak for “yes, we f..ked up”.

No, it's actually worse given how much more we are aware of. Screening has to be utmost priority and NSW failed. Again. That saying, only fools never learn from their mistakes... we cannot be complacent.

Yeah - a Jetstar plane does nor carry 3500 people

Tell him he's a liar First rule of crisis management for a cock up Accept responsibility and then say what steps are in place to make sure it won't happen again He gets paid the big bucks and doesn't know this

Yes, because one was a boat and this was a plane...

whatnowau It’s only different in your mind buddy.

Yes. Completely different. Ruby Princess was screening passengers on board. Many were confined to their rooms. The ship's officers were required to declare, and did declare there were cases before they reached port in Sydney & were allowed to disembark. ?

No it’s not !! You are all responsible, Gladys,Morrison, Dutton .

Have you interviewed GladysB ? Have you asked for her apology ? Have you asked for her to resign ? Has any media outlet asked these questions of the NSW liberal state minister?

It’s worse?

Different! How?

Yes 'no testing'is very different to 'no testing'.

Do tell.

Well yeah. This was on a plane which goes zoom zoom in the air; as opposed to a boat which splish splashes on water. Totally different.

now he looks happy!!!!!!!!!

Imagine if it happened in Melbourne. Media would be hounding the premier.

The passangers on the plane were already screened in VIC before departure. BIG difference to Ruby Princess. Still a fail by NSW health in any case.

Yes. Completely different. Ruby Princess was screening passengere on board. They were required to declare, and did declare there were cases before they reached port in Sydney & were allowed to disembark. ?

It's different cos this one has schadenfreude and the Ruby didn't

Yeah. The Jetstar passenger included young potential super spreaders instead of geriatrics

One was on a plane the other a boat

nope, it's exactly the same COVIDIOT negligence

why?

We wont know that for a couple of weeks...will we!😳😡

Peter Dutton May 9, 2019: 'Labor’s reckless border failures have cost our country dearly. Labor hasn’t learnt their lesson. Only the Coalition stands for secure borders, tough law enforcement and strong national security.” What's 'very different'- they're still blaming Labor.

Yes Alex Hawkes relatives weren't on the flight, very different

I don't see the difference, pretty similar if you ask me.

This one was on a plane!

“Different FROM”. One thing differs FROM another- not TO another!!

Different how Fail NSW

Well it happened in Sydney so the won't take too much notice of this incident.... now if it happened in Victoria well that would be a different matter - let the witch hunt begin they would be yelling!!!

Really?

Incompetence at an airport instead of a seaport?

Melbourne plane passengers allowed to leave Sydney Airport without health testsNearly 50 passengers travelling into Sydney from Melbourne on a Jetstar service were allowed to leave the aircraft and exit the airport without being health screened for coronavirus. 9News Gggrrrrrt It’ll all be ok, even if the media do go completely crazy over it as it seems they will. The 50 passengers should have known better. The airport staff should have know better, the cabin crew and pilot should have known better. The levels of absolute stupidity here is utterly beyond ridicules. I can't believe people are still this stupid.
