MP Bob Katter says turning a derelict 'resort in paradise' into a facility for international arrivals is a better idea than mining camps or COVID 'breeding ground' hotels.

"There are still tens of thousands of Australians stranded overseas.

"Quarantining them in the cities is quarantining them in the rabbit warren breeding ground of COVID."Mr Katter acknowledged the cyclone-damaged resort "needed a bit of work" and estimated the cost of repairs at about $1 million."For the arrivals, it would mean having a good time at a premier resort in paradise — what more could you want?" I first thought, what a good idea. And then I found out he’s part of the Dunk Island investor group, and is wanting the Qld taxpayer to pay for its extensive multi-million dollar refurbishments. What a shame Bob. I nearly fell for it. auspol

Well - here’s the extent of his compassion and intellect

Afraid Bob is delusional. $1 Million would scratch the surface of what needs to be done on Dunk.

. Oh, what's that? Dunk Island is privately owned. Wow. And despite it being wrecked for 10 years, the owner will let tax payers renovate it for him? Sounds like a great deal. Not. Maybe forceful acquisition at its current value. Now we're talking. FORCEFUL ACQUISITION!

Was badly damaged in 2011. After 9 wet seasons it will only be suitable for knocking down.

Not a good idea the rest of Dunk island is National park for bush walking!

Pie in the sky, Bob. Renovations would take 18 months and cost more like $10 million, not $1 million. There's no reason returning Aussies can't be safely quarantined in some of the near-empty Cairns resort hotels. International airport, and world-class hospital right there.

Let’s see who owns the island first

I'm left wondering why no journalists have jumped on this quote from Greg Hunt - 'The world is engaged in the largest clinical trial. The largest global vaccination trial EVER'. Said in broad daylight on Insiders yesterday. The jab is a trial. Go to 12:40 Awwww do they. So what What's with the different coloured needles?

Why deaths reported following COVID-19 vaccinations are no immediate cause for alarmAs more and more people continue to be vaccinated around the world, more misinformation continues to spread about vaccine safety. Does this mean that both could kill you but the risk from Covid remains greater than the risk from the vaccine so let’s minimize the risk? Biggest load of propaganda. Most biased bit of journalism I’ve read in a while. Oh, that’s right your still funded by the Government. ABC’s losing your relevance by the day. And what has Australia agreed to in securing vax supply?
