Police say the group, spanning multiple countries, controlled one-third of Europe's cocaine trade.

Police have dismantled a drug "super cartel" controlling a third of Europe's cocaine trade, arresting 49 people in several countries including six top suspects in Dubai.Dutch prosecutors say the drugs were coming "mainly from South America" through Antwerp and RotterdamThe international operation saw 30 tonnes of the drug seized and also involved arrests in France, Spain, Belgium and the Netherlands, Europol said in a statement.

It added that officials in Dubai had arrested two "high-value" suspects linked to the Netherlands, another two linked to Spain and two more connected to France. Thirteen people were arrested in Spain, six in France and 10 in Belgium, while 14 people were arrested in 2021 in the Netherlands as part of the same operation, it said.

"These are serious criminal offences pertaining to international drug trafficking, mainly from South America via the ports of Antwerp and Rotterdam," the Dutch public prosecution service said in a statement.Record amounts of cocaine are being seized in Europe. The drug's availability on the continent has never been higher.
