Sky News host Chris Kenny says there is “an incredible divide” going on in the New South Wales government that could have “huge ramifications nationally”.

“At the moment you have the Liberals and Nationals, the environment minister and the deputy premier no less, who sit in the very same cabinet, openly divided on climate policy,” Mr Kenny said. The comments come after the Environment Minister Matt Kean earlier this year vowed his government is “absolutely committed to reaching zero net emissions by 2050”.

But Nationals Leader John Barilaro said he did not agree with Mr Kean’s policies because a target of zero net emissions by 2050 would be detrimental to regional and rural communities and spell the end to mining and resource jobs. “This cannot stand. Either the policy has to change, or the personnel has to change or the Coalition [federally] will be in strife”. Image: News Corp Australia

Rudd's Australia 2020 Summit was full of 'rent seekers' | Sky News AustraliaThe Australian’s Judith Sloan said the Australia 2020 summit, which was headed up by Kevin Rudd when he was prime minister in 2008, was a talk-fest full of 'what we would call 'rent seekers’”. \n\nThe 2020 Summit invited delegates to discuss ideas and proposals of issues that could affect the future of the nation. \n\nMs Sloan said those who were present at the summit attempted to “push their pet projects” which were to be “funded by the taxpayer”. \n\nShe said it's telling that few of the ideas were subsequently adopted by the private sector. \n\n Sludith, always so cheery.
