Sky News host Chris Kenny says Prime Minister Scott Morrison’s announcement for a planned cap on immigration has been designed in part to help the New South Wales Liberal election campaign.

The state's election is set for March 23, with the NSW Coalition and the Labor party at 50-50 on a two-party preferred basis according to the latest Newspoll. Liberal Premier Gladys Berejiklian says the rate of immigration in NSW needs to slow down, and Mr Kenny says there are community concerns, particularly in Sydney, that there is not enough infrastructure for the growing state.
