The tennis world has dug deep to raise a staggering $4.8 million for bushfire victims in a night of thrilling entertainment at the Rally for Relief on Rod Laver Arena. 9News

The night's action was held in high spirits as 12 players competed across a series of jovial matches and challenges aimed at raising money and awareness for the disaster.

"Hopefully that can keep inspiring people to support this terrible disaster that we were going through and helps to recover all the things that we need ."The night started with Team Wozniacki, consisting of Caroline Wozniacki, Coco Gauff, Alexander Zverev, Stefanos Tsitsipas, and Naomi Osaka, competing against Team Williams, which boasted Djokovic, Nadal, Dominic Thiem, Petra Kvitova, and Williams herself in a mixed doubles bonanza.

While noticeably more competitive, the pair didn't forget why they were there as they took time between games to jest with the crowd and each other, with the Swiss Maestro ultimately claiming the one-set fixture in a tie-break.

More smoke predicted for Australian Open qualifying as racing gets called offPlayers at Australian Open qualifying are still expected to battle poor air quality at Melbourne Park, as Racing Victoria cancel races at two courses due to conditions 'unsuitable for racing'. Cancel it as if it wasn’t obvious to do so. Officials couldn’t give a stuff about anything but money. I find this very amusing. All that money lost. Whatever will our politicians do? Australias had it coming for a while.

Why Celeste Barber's bushfire fundraiser is more complicated than it seemsCeleste Barber's bushfire fundraiser has raised more than $51 million, but getting that money into the hands of charities isn't as simple as clicking the donate button. It's confusing to me that people keep calling her a comedian. FatherBob People didn't realise it was go i my to just NSW, Celeste said she had plans to share t he money between states affected. So people still gave with this reassurance. Apparently now it's not so. VIC, SA, QLD, TAS AND WA have all been affected and have very little thanks to this 1 Thank you for reporting this story. MSM has been ignoring it. Can you ask celestebarber_ why donations are still be accepted now it is a legal matter? There is little chance of it ever helping the promised charities & states during this bushfire crisis? AUSTRALIANBUSHFIRES

Five things we learned from the Oscar nominationsThe 2020 Oscar nominations are here and, once again, there is some controversy over who gets love and who misses out. 'we' lol. Are the nominating on Merit or Popularity? That’s the question. Black, white, female or male is not the question. More racial vilification from the ABC.
