Comment: 'I didn't see that': NRL's head buried in sand over 'six-to-go' drama | AWebsterAGE

The moment when five-eighth Jack Wighton allowed himself to be tackled with the ball, believing he had another six tackles up his sleeve - as indicated by Cummins frantically waving his hand above his head?

Discerning fans are wise enough to understand that "referees have the toughest job in the game"; that we’re "looking for perfection in an imperfect game"; that "as long as people are involved in the decision-making, there will always be human error". Head of football Graham Annesley, to his credit, keeps fronting the media whenever there’s a contentious call — but the excuses are wearing thin.

AWebsterAGE Excellent journalist. Always valuable reading. The NRL won't listen.

AWebsterAGE I disagree it cost Canberra the game. If BJ Leilua had passed the ball to Rapana instead of going for glory they might have won. Also in the lead up to the winning try again BJ didn’t mark up and the roosters took adavantage. No way did that call cost Canberra the grand final.

AWebsterAGE No getting away from the fact it was a monstrous howler of an error. Killed the game

AWebsterAGE

AWebsterAGE And nobody else but me thinks Cronk’s sin binning was a bad call? Far bigger mistake in my view.

swrighteconomy AWebsterAGE The problem with refereeing is the fans and the football community more broadly. Until you understand that, you won't fix a thing.

AWebsterAGE “And that, sports fans, is precisely what is wrong with the NRL. The people who run the game are either unaware of the poor officiating that is turning fans away or too proud, too sensitive or too protective of their own jobs to admit to a problem.”

AWebsterAGE 👩🏻‍🦰👍🐝

AWebsterAGE OMG NRL what do you expect? SmartState1 has f'ed, corrupted, Qld labor, hidden his behaviour, buried evidence in 'secret' court documents, gone overseas to hide from it, f'ed C'wlth games close, and ran from the music... and you guys HIRED HIM!! Beattie ANOTHER f'up!!

AWebsterAGE I’ll say it again. Beattie is as useful as being handed two knives to eat your spaghetti.

AWebsterAGE

AWebsterAGE Sex to go incident overshadows the fact that nrl awarded the Clive Churchill medal to a loser who let in two tries which lost tbe game for his team.

AWebsterAGE it is also ridiculous that the Raiders did not get the advantage after a dopey trainer from the Roosters got in the way of a loose ball and possibly cost Canberra a try.
