Researchers at Australia's first 'body farm' have found that dead bodies move significantly when they decompose.

No matter when the body had been placed in the facility — summer or winter — it continued to mummify even up to three years later."Previously, if the police had asked me if a set of human remains were found and they were mummified, I would have said that it's likely that that person was left outside in autumn or winter," she said.

"We are currently considering how the facility may be used to study different death investigation scenarios such as indoor environments, drowning, fire, or concealments, to further aid criminal and coronial investigations," Dr Ward said."This research and training is only possible because of the generous and invaluable contribution our donors and their families have chosen to make to forensic science," Dr Ward said.

While the Sydney facility is in a bush environment that replicates many areas in Australia, there are many other environments in the country.

Well that is amazing that Australian Tophonomy is so different from that of the Northern Hemisphere. Who would have expected the arms to move out and move back to the body? Amazing work-truth contribution.

A whole new TV series will come out of this TooMuchInformation 😳

'Racist' decision bans Chinese students from running in university electionInternational students make up 62 per cent of the campus population at Monash Caulfield but the student council has banned them from contesting elections, in a move to stop Chinese candidates seizing control. interesting but that photo is of unimelb.... Good Why don't we just let the Chinese Communist party come in and control every university? (Some would argue they already do) Makes me wonder if anyone at the Age has an ounce of intelligence.
