Boris Johnson released the ‘Love Actually’ style video in a last-minute bid to sway voters before Thursday's election. 9News

It shows the prime minister parodying a famous scene from the perennially popular Christmas film in which actor Andrew Lincoln pretends to be a carol singer and holds up a series of placards for his love, Keira Knightly.

Mr Johnson's placards have a pro-Brexit message and include: "With any luck, by next year we'll have Brexit done ." Further placards read: "Your vote has never been more important, the other guy could win, so you have a choice to make between a working majority or another gridlocked hung parliament." Grant, who played the role of the British PM in Love Actually, has been an outspoken critic of Mr Johnson and his Conservative Party.

When asked what he made of the spoof, Grant told the BBC that there was a crucial card missing from Mr Johnson's version of the movie scene.
