How a $24 million sports grant built Panthers' new function centre and car park

A $24 million state and federal government grant that was supposed to fund "grassroots sport" in western Sydney will instead go towards a conference centre and an underground car park for the mammoth pokies-funded Panthers Group.

In February 2019, a "funding agreement" to supply the $12 million election commitment was made by the NSW Office of Sport. But it is not publicly available, and questions about why the Office of Sport is funding a function centre went unanswered."to improve access to community, exhibition and event facilities and increase employment opportunities, multiculturalism, education and tourism to the local community.

Nigelgladstone Panthers and Monties are often 1&2 richest clubs in the country with Penrith have $160M in revenue for club internal acirivities alone. That $24M could’ve gone to but used for the improvement on 20 clubs across the city.
