Housing costs have drawn level with health as the biggest worry for people in NSW as soaring property prices stoke fears about affordability., which asks a representative sample of NSW adults to identify the three most important issues facing the state, shows housing now ranks the equal top concern alongside health.After the onset of the pandemic last year healthcare, the economy and unemployment were the community’s biggest concerns.

“Having kids, I’m just worried about them being able to get into the market to start with ... how they’re going to get a foothold,” he said.“With COVID we have a plan, there’re vaccines,” he said. “The virus will always be there, but I don’t think we have a plan for the housing market and how we can make it more affordable. People who have houses want it to go up, but it makes it harder for people who aren’t in it. No one seems to have a plan for it and just let it go.

Treasurer Dominic Perrottet said the property tax overhaul would be a “once-in-a-generation reform to make home ownership more affordable and achievable.”
