The Coalition will reintroduce its ‘big stick’ energy legislation this week as power bills start to fall under tough new pricing laws.

The laws would enable the federal court to break up and sell the assets of an energy company accused of anti-competitive behaviour.

After previously opposing the policy, Labor said it would take another look at the legislation. Opposition leader Anthony Albanese accused the Coalition of failing to come up with new ideas, saying “the government doesn’t have a plan for an economy that frankly, is in serious strife”.
