Sky News host Chris Kenny says governments “base decisions such as water restrictions” partly on weather forecasts.

Mr Kenny said when it comes to climate policy “we are constantly hearing predictions and forecasts from the bureau” on which “we are supposed to base serious policy decisions”.

“Back in early December this report in The Australian revealed how the Bureau of Meteorology had given federal [government] a drought briefing, saying there'd be no significant rain until April,” he said. “Some areas had their heaviest rain in decades, dams have filled, creeks and rivers have flooded and many have dared to dream that the drought might be breaking. “If you really want to know what's happening, stick your head out of the window.
