It has been reported the government is planning to spend a rumoured $4.5 billion to buy 29 Apache AH64E helicopters which are made in the United States.

In a statement reported in The Australian Defence Minister Linda Reynolds said, “the Apache Guardian is the most lethal, most survivable and lowest-risk option, meeting all of Defence’s

capability, through-life support, security, and certification requirements.” Defence wants to phase out its Tiger Attack Helicopters by 2025 since they have been plagued with issues for some time.

hksh19583 They keep getting more expensive. This is good. The US empire is dying and with it the terror of woke army dies also.

Thats $155 million per Chopper!!! Thats seems very expensive

A very good decision. If only our Defence procurement was based around only proven, tested & operational off-the-shelf equipment, rather than experimental designs (eg French subs which will take 30-40yrs!!) we would have better ADF for less money. DeptDefence MarisePayne

Great news! Excellent decision!

Indonesia has an Armada of helicopters. That’s what they buy with Australian Foreign Aid

Is this so we can bomb Dan Andrews office?

Waste of money. Could save $3billion keeping the Tigers and getting the RAAF to operate them.

So happy the military industrial complex in USA will get financial support/relief from Australian taxpayers during this difficult period of COVID-19.

Then I bet they’ll go paint it rainbow pride colours 🤣🤣

We need 500 of these, the Chinese would leave us alone.

Buying off the shelf. Awesome decision. Now let’s get rid of the MH90s and buy new Blackhawks.

That's because this is the most important thing we need right now

Canberroo2 Good. Keeping up our end of the bargain in the Indo-Pacific Strategy.

At fucken last now buy some nuke subs as well & ditch the Baguette diesel convert ones.

Yes - Some serious firepower to stand our ground against Chinese coercion

LOL spending money to protect AU interests by provoking your biggest customer. Makes perfect sense. 😂😂😂

You could replace this story with Attack Class sub and the answer in 2060 will be the same - buy something existing that works

What a waste of money.

Do these ones double as water bombers for the next round of bushfires? Oh.

Yes good move.

Waste of money. $4.5 billion for infrastructure is much much better

Only rumours!? I'm not going to take the bait and get into an argument on how we don't need submarines or attack helicopters!

Excellent decision. The Apache is the ideal platform for our ADF's needs.

Yeah Ok

Rumoured Report fact SKY News

Lol

Free speech is dead in America

FatherBob We can’t do feee child care, they don’t want to raise our super, we can’t spend much money on fighting climate change, we can’t spend more money on education, but sure let’s spend 4.5 billions on machines that kill

Good! It’s about time we got some decent battle helicopters.

I'd be impressed if they dumped water on bushfires.

Is this to fight covid? Maybe they should sort out the vaccine rollout first so they can stop all the lockdowns and quarantines of international travellers.

I thought you lot were all happy with your Frenchy German toys

So that’s the cost of the Trump medal for ScottMorrisonMP

Ok?
