DanaScully2 Because the Govt had already decided to give them the funds 🤔🤔🤔

MinhKular A surprise. The punters at the local could have told you it stinks.

MikeySlezak Does anyone know the Great Barrier Reef Foundation's position on Adani? Not only shoud it be 100% against, but vociferous in denouncing said coal mine. Yet the foundation remains seemingly silent on a mine whose coal production equals the annual greenhouse emissions of Romania!

So what happens now? Is there any direction given to the recipient that the money should now be frozen to ensure its not frittered away or worse still spent on something not related to the reef?

Duh!

Labor said they would make them pay it back, $20+ million in admin fees tells me it's a Tory. Stick to your word billshortenmp

Corrupt behaviour never complies

sarahinthesen8 Why would it be any other way from the manipulative smoke and mirror LNP party shadowy deals? Just how many shadowy cover-ups ministers paying back the money they have misappropriated voting to keep themselves in the parliament hiding from subpoenas. Aussies have no faith in them

If only Labor did this Murdoch and Stokes would be all over it wouldn’t they. Aussie Aussie Aussie oi oi oi

And nothing will be done about it because it’s the LNP right?

What a dishonest headline/article. If you follow the link to the ANAO report and read it, almost every para starts with how the grant was compliant. The ABC has gone and found the 1% that could be improved and tried to extrapolate that for the entire grant ABCmediawatch

No surprise really. Now what happens?

nothing to see here, just LNP cronies getting their share of public $

That's because it was another corrupt Turnball rort. nbnlove

Obscure mob get grant, giant multi-national has someone in the obscure mob, giant multi-national makes huge donations to govt party that made grant, just recycling taxpayers money, nothing to see here, move on.

This current reef is, like, the 5th reef in the same spot. Let's just get rid of it already. I'm sick of hearing about the stupid thing. QLD is also massively overrated.

ABCRural And this is why the ABC is biased. The Auditor General cleared them of any wrongdoing. But suggested some things could be done better. There was NO corruption. ABC you should be ashamed.

ABCRural Fabulous- we need immediate action and funding and this is the sloppy result after a questionable funding by Government

We knew this from day one. How much more money was wasted to tell us that we knew we wasted money. Isn't this the definition of lunacy?

Dirty deeds. Not so cheap 😡

$444m given to Great Barrier Reef which is packed full of mates of LNP. $20m randomly given to Foxtel. Huge donations from coal and mining companies. We need a FULL federal ICAC NOW, not some watered down one Scott Morrison has come up with! auspol

So then why.. why was that one organisation given the money?

I'm shocked, shocked to find there's CORRUPTION going on in here! spectral voice of Morrison Your 'research grants', sir. Oh, thank you very much. Everybody out at once! Seriously, ElectionNow, please. Auspol QuelleSurprise

So are they giving it back to us?

Just the Liberal Party ripping off the country - screwing the people and the environment - as per usual. LiberalAus auspol

Of course it didn't. We could all pretty much see that at the time.

So does that mean they have to give the money to CSIROnews now?

I'm shocked. SHOCKED.

There is widespread opacity masking the entirety of the workings of government.

You don’t say

No shit Sherlock Suspect as

Corruption.

Audit finds there was no clear criteria for $444 million reef grantAn audit has found the $444 million grant made to the Great Barrier Reef Foundation didn't come with enough detail about what it should be used to achieve. They started on Friday... Sacriligous disrespect for the VOTERS in allowing this GRANT without proper investigation!! How many pensioners/Unemployed etc. lost their monies too pay for this FIASCO!! Reverse this fraudulent scam and charge the LNP with Corporate Fraud. Apparently according to Waffles, ScoMo was up to ears 👂 in this scam. This is an obscene disgrace and bit like Waffle’s $10M rain making scam. Turnbull should never be allowed near taxpayer funds.

What’s with Trump’s bizarre medal display during Oval Office speech? There are endless takeaways from Donald Trump’s televised presidential address, but the twittersphere is perplexed by a shiny detail in the background of the frame. realDonaldTrump Now he’s saying $8 bil instead of $5bil. realDonaldTrump I dare Trump take himself to see any of the 800,000 government employees who are forced to work for free while he continues his temper tantrum. He should be forced to listen to people question him as to how they’ll pay their bills.
