The federal government has vowed that Holden will be “held to account” over its promise to support the 600 workers and hundreds of dealers affected by the company’sThe iconic brand will be axed in Australia at the end of 2020, just three years after it ceased local manufacturing and as it posted its lowest monthly sales since the first Australian-made Holden rolled off the production line 72 years ago.

About 600 of the 800 jobs will be lost, with all being awarded redundancies. paulsakkal Why Holden? It’s GM who owns Holden. Holden’s workers are being screwed by GM.

paulsakkal We have lost the opportunity and the whole car industry on ElectricVehicles vs ICE hopefully we don't lose on renewables vs FossilFuels and the associated technologies e.g battery storage.

paulsakkal auspol AFR If only the government and both parties spent the billions dollars subsidies on developing an electric car rather than filling up GM pockets for vanity over the past decades, we could still have a vibrant car manufacturing industry. ausbiz Holden

paulsakkal Australian governement is sleeping Holden brand and manufacturing was killed due to removal of import tax for Japanise and Korean cars. Elon Musk wanted to build EV mega manufacturing plant here and imposible power cost, regulation and red tape made imposible to build here.

paulsakkal Took the money and ran did they.

paulsakkal Mr PM, ScottMorrisonMP Do a deal with Holden and give them 25 years tax FREE THRESHOLD, and the Unions will pull their heads out of their arse ... as far too many people are affected. Obama did it. You must deal now How GOOD ARE YOU? JoshFrydenberg

paulsakkal Role model extraordinaire ScottyFromMarketing set the standard and now complains. Too funny. You can only comment when you make yourself accountable. Unbelievable. auspol AuspolSoCorrupt Auspol2020

paulsakkal How sad on the day Trump is doing his thing racing with the good ol boys, scottyfrommarketing lost Holden for Australia.

paulsakkal So the govt should stop licking the back of all enterprises.

paulsakkal Holden will be 'held to account' 🤣

paulsakkal What did you lefties expect? You demonise coal-powered electricity but fail to recognise that manufacturing-like cars- depends on reliable energy supply. Also, demonising cars, expecting future right-hand Oz niche market to convert to EV without resolving charging station power?

paulsakkal Should of let these crooks go broke ages ago.

paulsakkal Ohh no General Motors must be real scared now..Scotty might get angry.

paulsakkal What will ScottyFromMarketting do when the coal mine companies realize there is no money in coal

paulsakkal I call bullshit! They'll do nothing! ScottyfromMarketing has done his confected outrage for the 6:00 news grab. Old news tomorrow, and a new crisis for him to deal with.

paulsakkal Blss as me whoever you want but nobody was buying the things

paulsakkal Cometh the hour, cometh the man..

paulsakkal Hmm, short memories in LNP government, forgetting Joe Hockey's taunts in Parliament and the text in 2013 that led to GeneralMotors exit from Australia and Holden's ultimate demise as a brand! 🤦‍♂️auspol

paulsakkal What a bunch of hypocrites!!

paulsakkal LNP is shocked that capitalism does not care about workers.

paulsakkal Accept the labor party lines the pockets of each other in 2012 when they gave GM Holden $275m. Leftys cant make deals if the economy depended on it

paulsakkal Not only Australia incidentally. Today Holden announced it is effectively pulling out of Thailand a major car exporting country. Looks like the company is going bad from a business perspective.

paulsakkal Maybe they can go from sports rorts to car rorts. They're good at that.

paulsakkal LNP and HonTonyAbbott and ScottMorrisonMP need to be held to account .

paulsakkal Rich. It's this government that saw the end of motor manufacturing here.

paulsakkal There was publicity about FORD getting bigger into Electric Vehicles at a more reasonable price a few days ago and now Holden doing not this also getting into Electric ScottMorrisonMP AlboMP Another Failure Australians politicians of the present is it? abcsydney abcbrisbane

paulsakkal Unlike its own support to the thousands of workers it threw to the wind by Hockey and Abbott. Fucking hypocrites

paulsakkal They'll be trembling in their boots

Holden to be pulled from sale by 2021The iconic Australian car brand Holden is being axed after decades making and selling cars such as the Commodore, Astra and Barina. Thanks Joe Hockey and the Liberals. You’ve lost an industry for no gain but less tax the last vestiges of the local car and related components industry, and technical skills associated with it, which was so completely screwed over by Tony Abbott. But (soon to be automated anyway) mining jobs? Australians to Holden - 😒🖕🏻
