Breaking: Gold Coast beautician saw up to 40 clients before coronavirus diagnosis

A Gold Coast beautician identified as Queensland's sixth coronavirus victim had "brief interactions" with clients at Australia Fair Shopping Centre before she was placed in isolation.

Queensland Chief Health Officer Dr Jeannette Young has commended the state's sixth coronavirus victim for seeking medical help so swiftly. She saw between 30 and 40 clients for treatments including facials and waxing before she went home sick. "So she is to be commended, and I would ask anyone in Queensland who has returned from overseas within the past 14 days and develops any symptoms to come forward and seek advice immediately," Dr Young said.

Dr Young said there were no concerns for travellers who were on her flight or anyone who made contact with her in the days leading up to Thursday.

Calm before the storm

Start prepping peoples. Grow a veggie garden.

that is the worry with this corona virus, were all likely to catch it anyway, apparently more than once as it has the ability to mutate and multiply

Queensland chief health officer Jeannette Young said the risk that the woman infected anyone else was 'incredibly low' because of her swift actions after identifying her 'minimal symptoms' A 15 minute facial is pretty close and personal x 40 GTFOH that’s not incredibly low risk

Anyone who has been overseas should self quarantine themselves . To think you won’t pick up anything on a plane or in transit at this point in time is nothing short of delusional. The End covid19

ScottMorrisonMP This is another example, you need to close Australia's borders now, please do it before it's too late, dont allow anyone in!

It's only a matter of time before more cases like this spring up...

There doesn’t seem to be any effort of stopping the virus entering our island nation.......why can people enter from countries with major outbreaks and not be in quarantine Absurd, as if they don’t care that it spreads.

Darn, I thought we had weeks before it spread on this continent

Did she even have a work visa?

More than forty by now there is the plane airport neighbours her family and the shopping centre and wherever else she has been hopefully she drives otherwise buses and trains also

That's the slow down in Facials Beauticians will all suffer from no customers Sick people should always stay away from work. Infecting others with common cold. Costs the Business & the economy long term

Anybody returning to Australia from a country where the virus has been identified should by law be required to go into self quarantine for a period of 21 days. This lady returned from a very high risk country Monday and back to work on Thursday. How stupid can you get !!

This is making the assumption she was only contagious during the symptomatic phase? There appears to a strong case that asymptomatic transmission is possible/likely...

shiba287 You clearly saw the future today.

This is why closed borders are a right of every people, Coronavirus is the multicultural virus.
