Hundreds of Hong Kong pro-democracy supporters gather at a mall to sing a recently penned protest song titled Glory to Hong Kong.

Hundreds of Hong Kong pro-democracy supporters gathered at a shopping mall to sing a recently penned protest song titled Glory to Hong Kong, which some activists have claimed as the territory's new national anthem.

Glory to Hong Kong has become a rallying cry for more democratic freedoms in the semi-autonomous Chinese territory, where three months of protests over a now withdrawn extradition bill have evolved into a broader backlash against the government and greater calls for democracy. Its words could be translated to:"The time has come to wage a revolution. Freedom and liberty belong to this land. May glory be to Hong Kong."

The song was composed by anonymous local musicians with a video of an orchestra performing and singing the song dressed in protest gear. It was recently uploaded on YouTube as a response to online calls for a theme to unite protesters. The newest song follows on from other popular anthems sung during rallies, like Sing Hallelujah to the Lord and Do you Hear the People Sing.
