catswoodlife Most of them Chinese UNSW and other universities let students get away with it: they operate as clandestine immigration centres: no international students equate to huge financial losses. WeChat. So these are Chinese students, right? Follow the money. SSSSSSSSSHHHHH! Don’t let the Vice Chancellors and Board of Directors of our University’s hear this. They need bums on seats, and brains out the door.

carriefellner This FOUND more cheating, it’s absolutely misleading to say that rates of cheating ’have snowballed’ unless you can hit 100% detection, which of course no institution has. I went to uni. standards are much lower for Chinese students than Aussie kids. Money before ethics. It's a shame that the Australian government encouraging the exports of education services largely from the public universities but still allowing them to enjoy the not-for-profit status and tax concessions on the cost of all taxpayers.

Yeah but it’s ok because they keep the property market bubbling. It’s only a rort if you’re not a n on it. “Business” students The worst part is not the cheating, but the academic supervisors dont care. They receive a fee per student.

US coronavirus deaths could rise to 3,000 per day by 1 June, leaked documents revealPresident Donald Trump's administration privately projects that the daily death toll from COVID-19 will almost double by the end of the month, according to an internal document cited by two US papers. Wow 😢 Haven't you clowns learnt not to unquestioningly believe the thoroughly discredited NYT and WaPo? These numbers are from an incomplete draft of one version of modeling and is apparently one of many possible scenarios, not an official White House estimate. They didn't prepare, the expected death toll modeling was presented to Trump at the start. He was happy with the numbers,he just wants it all to hurry targets costly aging & chronically ill population that is a burden he's happy

Just typical of the malaise that infects education throughout. When universities stop treating education simply as a money making business, and they go back to the standards and goals that used to motivate the tertiary sector, then there will be some hope, until then? This has been happening for quite a while. Overseas students also rely on Aussie students to do the heavy lifting in group assignments. Lecturers seem to mystically match groups of Aussies to students who don’t have a good grasp of English so fee payers don’t fail.

Well is that new news? The language skills need to complete a degree for international students with English as a second language makes it nearly impossible! But if you’re in the business of selling education then this is a daily issue there r many Chinese students who were admitted with little Eng so they cheat They came here to get degree as a backdoor to PR But they r duds no good for employers so they open cafes sushi t/away tea house etc

The issues that we face as a society are there in a nutshell, and it's not only UNSW that has the problem, or students. There's been a gradual undermining of values for decades in our learning institutions; a cultural shift that promotes succeeding against learning, at any cost. Nothing new. We chat. Isn’t that Chinese?

No shit ,50% of students can’t even speak, read or write in English …university degrees aren’t worth the paper they are printed on. It’s become a con for international students while pushing local students with hopes and dreams but no money onto the streets And they have only now worked out what every uni student has known ever since the internet?

China lied about origin of coronavirus, leaked intelligence report saysA damning dossier leaked from the “Five Eyes” intelligence alliance claims that China lied to the world about human-to-human transmission of the virus, disappeared whistleblowers and refused to hand over virus samples so the West could make a vaccine. I still suspect the scum barbaric Chinese communist government deliberately spread the disease to the world 🤮🤮🤮 And they have been, and still are, lying about the deaths in their country Wow leaked source from “the five eyes intelligence” …are we back in fighting the Cold War already?

If universities accept students with IELTS 6, they are inviting cheating out of necessity. I once had a lecturer say “Grade them harder [in IELTS]”, when he should have been telling his university to set IELTS 7 as a minimum. Universities have been forced to compete for money. How many are overseas students?

This happens because Australian universities have been happy enough to enrol overseas students who lack English language skills adequate to complete their degrees. Don’t blame the kids, blame the universities that took their money. It’s not only international students. When I gave a bare pass to a local student’s art history essay, she complained because when her sister had submitted the same essay at another university she’d been given a Distinction – then she realised what she’d said.

Every Aus Uni has plagiarism check so why bother? suzipeep Absolute disgrace. WeChat groups, too bad, they’ve been actively running their essay writing business in Australian Universities for years. Plagiarism is like Darwin an ever agnostic answer by the author before his finals! This is the science community of tomorrow that will yield the scientific truth, the vaccines, the data in saving lives. The tick and flick lads and lasses that are relied on for their objectivity and powers of debate, beyond reproach, nutting out solutions to a healthy future ?Ffsk

Really. Is this an opportune time to put another boot into overseasstudents. How timely when they are not even at uni.

Don't even need English to nail science. Slackers! No surprises there then When will these institutions wake up? It is a massive industry and anyway those buying the service are not here to study...I mean wake the f*** up It’s OK as long as they are full fee paying students from overseas. It's well known that MOST of the wealthy 'International' students get the less well off ones to do all their work. It's completely institutionalized. Most the time it's upperclass parents threatening lowerclass parents to make sure it's done.

Climate scientists no doubt. This has been happening for years with ESL international students. universities aren’t interested in Education only $ Might be a few less wechat users to worry about moving forward Been going on for the past 15 years - will keep getting covered up ethics integrity aanchalssethi

Do let one know if one appears to look shocked... 😏 Ahhhh...the good old UNSW library lawn. Nothing changes. Same for the cheating too. Lol WeChat Hmm 🤔 shall we guess the nationality? Damn! Why wasn't that around when I went to Uni? 🤔 Shsssh ... UNSW, UQ & others would rather stay silent as long as Chinese Yuan keeps flowing. Don’t rock the money trees. And please support Twiggy, Kerry Stoke & Paul Barry. They too keep Chinese Yuan flowing.
