The latest plan on how to reduce, and ultimately eliminate, violence against women and children is released, with a focus on improving gender equality and attitudes to prevent it happening in the first place.

Put simply, these are the areas or issues the government has grouped a lot of the policies and responses around.

The government is clear that while the end goal is to eliminate violence, it's a long road. So it's adopted a "toward zero" approach.Getting to a world without violence against women and children is obviously going to take a whole-of-community approach. That includes teaching children and adults alike what makes a respectful relationship, consent, empowering bystanders to challenge disrespect or harassment toward women and look at what role pornography plays in contributing to harmful behaviours. There will also be a specific focus on working with men and boys to promote "healthy masculinities", and normalise relationships that are built on "respectful, fair, ethical, safe and supportive" behaviours.

Not one mention of alcohol as a contributing factor. How come? Has the ABC thought to ask?

🤣from birth slip in medication to lower testosterone levels to a safe level for all males & some females. 😂 'ultimately eliminate' pull the other leg 🤪🤣😂

I do hope the issue is being taken seriously. It makes me worry though, when I read an article on it that doesn't include the words 'offenders' or 'police'. We must not get distracted from the core of the problem - it's too important. GeorgiaHitch

There are two laws that need to be changed to stop violence against women. 1 The penalty needs to folitvthe crime and longer sentences 2 If a verifiable crime of violence has occured the police should act with the need for victim complain So no more fear

Shouldn't we want to reduce violence for everyone. Why does this to be sexist.

Remove the man from the house not the women and children.

Empty campaign promise.

knowing this government, it would be by shooting them

's that Toxic Masculinity again

more hot air from the boy's club

how the government says they want to do something and what they actually do about it are so far apart now that I really don't give a stuff what they say any more. Actions speak louder than lies.

Pretty rich coming from this government.
