A university professor believes France will use its anger and disappointment over the scrapping of the $90 billion dollar submarine deal and new AUKUS partnership to get closer to the US.

Prof Siracusa described President of France Emmanuel Macron was using diplomacy, which is"all about leverage".

Professor Joe Siracusa believes French President Emmanuel Macron will use his anger as leverage to get closer to Washington. "The Australians need to tell us how they’re getting out of it. We’re going to need explanation. We have an intergovernmental deal that we signed with great fanfare in 2019, with precise commitments, with clauses, how are they getting out of it? They’re going to have to tell us. So this is not the end of the story."

"It's a stab in the back. We had established a trusting relationship with Australia, and this trust was betrayed," he said."I am angry and bitter. This isn't done between allies."

It was the Liberal Party that signed the French contract. It was the Liberal Party that terminated it. It is the Liberal Party that own this problem from start to finish.

Go for it France - we have nothing to fear from you! 🇳🇿

Nowadays, the protection fee has risen to the point that Australia needs to sell its reputation, friends, customers and faces. Do we have anything else for sell?

Remember... this is the France that refused to sell and export the Covid Vaccine to Australia. Before they'd made enough for themselves. We in Britain didn't do that..

France laid down the first Barracuda in 2007, and only launched it in 2019 and be operational in 2021. That's 14 years to get an attack sub built. The reactors also need to be refuelled at least twice in their lifetime (7-10 years) by cutting open the hull, then welding it back!

Maybe if they weren’t 40 billion over budget and 20 years behind schedule it wouldn’t have been scrapped? 🤷🏻‍♂️

What you guys drinking?

Is Macron having a tantrum?

The f**k is wrong with this guy? This is an absolute disaster diplomatically! Scott lied to the French Government. He strung them along. We asked the French to convert a nuclear sub to be a non-nuclear sub then dumped them because it wasn't nuclear!?! It is going awfully:

French reveal outrage at Australia’s nuclear submarine dealThey'll kiss and make up through the UK connection in time. Macron is just having a small tantrum to keep his honor amongst his own. In the '80s the French had angered Australians with their repeated nuclear tests in the south pacific. Australians declared the country nuclear-free, yet continued to mine and export uranium to the many countries including France! The hypocrisy of this spat does have a precedent. Learn the truth about the vaccines. It’s all on my Twitter page. ⚡️
