A stupid word “trapped”? Try a head line like “saving lives is sometimes hard”

We criticise other counties for secrecy and fear instilled by Government, our own Government in Victoria has done the same. Locking down suburbs with one swoop of a postcode, not sharing any evidence of case numbers in Kensington. We have no rights.

Woohoo jackpot! Housos won lotto!

How long before they set the buildings on fire?

Has to be done. End of story.

Stranded in their own homes.....ffs.

Yes ! It is not a punishment, but a lesson DAN learnt from red friends, the TOTALITARIAN! Look at how CCP locked people within their apartment buildings! It is exactly the same. Blame everything on its people, lock them down in their buildings, use money to shut people’s mouth!

ToomeyWright Is Dan paying them out of his own pocket? No I didn’t think so. How in Gods name is this money going to be paid back by the govt?

Also we are supplying methadone and alcohol !!!! Unber- fucking -believable !!!!!

ToomeyWright Will they organise in house looting so the residents don’t need to go out ?

ToomeyWright Dan says...'It's for your protection.......locks them all up and then doesn't feed them. Hmmmmm and he wants Victorian teachers to 'protect' school kids?

If they can’t go to work I understand but what % are on benefits

Trapped WTF

Anyone seen quarantine movie ? It’s happening.

That picture is so funny What no drugs 🤣🤣

Basically buying their votes. Free rent, centrlink payments, free food and 1500. Would be funny if it want out taxpayer dollars.

If any high rise in the city had 24 cases then they would need the same treatment.

Ummm I’d like to put my hand up to be forcibly put in lockdown for 5 days. Thanks Comrad DanielAndrewsMP 🙄

The african gang problem is solved for 5 days

Stupid refugees

ToomeyWright The never ending gravy train for gimmegrants goes on.....

ToomeyWright Not as if they weren't getting everything for free before this. It just sucks we need cops to be there because this is the demographic that is allergic to self-management. springst

You couldn't pay me to live there.

Stop making this anything more than a public health response. Manipulation and sensationalism do the public a disservice. Great empathy and care by Andrews to provide the assistance to everyone involved. Challenging times.

Maybe its an additional reward.

They are not trapped. Egress is guaranteed under fire regulations. They are under public health orders for the protection of themselves and the community.

Geez! At that rate, people will start applying to live there 🤣😂

Payment and no rent, sounds reasonable

Melbourne public housing units locked down as Victoria records 108 new coronavirus casesResidents of nine public housing estates in inner Melbourne will be required to stay in their homes due to an outbreak of coronavirus cases. Daniel Andrews is now locking people in their apartments CCP style. Any reasonable person must see how that this is out of control authoritarianism that should have no place in our society. This is absolutely absurd. Many of these residents have addictions, mental health issues or experience domestic violence. Some regularly use the safe injecting rooms. How will 5 days in lockdown help this? They are at a great risk of hardship and risk to themselves. I hope they will be individually ensuring the economic and other safety and well-being of those residents

Rent waived for 3,000 Melbourne public housing tenants under hard lockdownVictoria records another 74 new coronavirus cases overnight as Premier Daniel Andrews announces the tenants of nine public housing towers placed under hard lockdown will not have to pay rent for two weeks. They probably never pay their rent anyway. Question for the ABC. I agree both premiers are responsible for each debacle, but during the Ruby Princess debacle, most of the story photos were oh the cruise ship and not of GladysB . Why are you only showing pictures of DanielAndrewsMP here? Is this not a form of media bias? Stands to reason not to charge rent. Prisoners aren’t expected to pay rent.

TOTAL LOCKDOWN: More than 3,000 residents unable to leave their homes as COVID cases in Victoria surges | Sky News AustraliaVictorian Premier Daniel Andrews has taken the unprecedented step to lock down 3,000 residents in nine public housing estates in the suburbs of Flemington and North Melbourne for five days from Sunday.\n\nThe extraordinary measures come as Victoria recorded 108 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, the highest since March 28.\n\nThe number of postcodes now under lockdown has risen to 12.\n\n'This is a very significant step. Not one we've had to take before, but it is for the protection of residents and the community,' Mr Andrews said.\n\nApproximately 500 police officers per shift will enforce the lockdown in what Mr Andrews called an 'unprecedented' police response.\n\nPremier Andrews acknowledged the logistical difficulties providing food for over 3,000 people.\n\n'Can I just say to all Victorians these numbers are a very real concern to all of us. That’s why it is so, so important that if you have symptoms you come forward and get tested,' he said.\n\n'If you’re in one of those towers the minister has just read out, you will not be allowed to leave your unit, your dwelling within that tower, for any reason.\n\n'That is not an easy decision to make but it is the appropriate decision to make. If I can draw an analogy, it is not dissimilar to the way aged care facilities are treated if there is a positive case, let alone an outbreak in an aged care facility.'\n \nImage: News Corp Australia Effective Leadership on display!
