'Another hot summer with kids in hot classrooms': Four hundred NSW schools sweating on news of airconditioning

Nine hundred schools that applied for airconditioning before last year’s state election received approval within three months, but 400 that lodged applications after the election are still waiting to hear back more than a year later.

The department said some delays were caused by problems with the site, or difficulty finding tenders that represented value for money or complied with conditions. "It’s extremely disappointing and extremely frustrating, for the school and for us," said P&C President Robyn Totenhofer. "Last year, and the beginning of this year was so hot, we were hoping to have that relieved so the kids can learn properly."A NSW Department of Education spokesman said it had always been working towards a 2022 deadline for Blaxland.

The Cooler Schools program was a $500 million, five-year election promise to install airconditioning in NSW schools. Last summer brought record temperatures across NSW, with a record 48.9 degrees recorded in Penrith.

Hopefully the kids in the hot classrooms that say they need air-con, don't whinge about climate change, or went to that protest last year during school hours.

'Nah, can't afford air conditioners for schools - all the money is being spent on holes in the ground and stadiums...'

How did we manage before air con? Those poor little petals...

Maybe there should be a lower age limit on restaurants, clubs and cafes? 60? fear and public safety are weapons of mind control

Southerners not welcome and Queenslanders returning must go into hotel isolation for 14 days surely spells the end of the NRL season. Very sneaky move by the Qld Premier. marywardy Brad Hazzard does not tell the truth....

Four dead, three visually impaired after ingesting hand sanitiserFour out of 15 adults admitted to hospital in the United States in recent months for ingesting an alcohol-based hand sanitiser died and three were left visually impaired, according to a new report from the nation’s health protection agency. 🙄🙄🙄 Everyone knows if your going to ingest hand sanitiser you have to infuse UV rays first. Could have been prevented if hydroxy was readily available I'm surprised anyone would be dumb enough to drink hand sanitiser

What do the stage four restrictions mean for business?Tough new rules have been imposed on workplaces in Melbourne, this is how they play out across different industries. Congratulations on providing some information to the people 'confused' about the new laws. Who knew? Media can be informative. Thank you. It was good to hear, from horses mouth, that the 2nd wave was from the bungled quarantine and not from “ruby princess”. Mismanagement of quarantine, inadequate testing rules for returnees, poor audit and inadequate vetting- has led to all the 100+ deaths. CEOs are sacked for less. Basically the health department cannot leave patients at home with families if tested positive. Otherwise it will cause more family cluster cases.
