'It's competitive Test cricket and people are going to talk to each other.' Australia captain Tim Paine downplayed a sledging row as tempers from both sides frayed towards the end of a gruelling Ashes series

The side has since avoided censure from the International Cricket Council, a point proudly raised by Cricket Australia chief executive Kevin Roberts before play on day three. The combative Wade, who was once recalled to the Test side for his voice more so than his form, has tested the patience of England players this series with his endless chirp in the field, though much of it has been inane instead of offensive.

As Labuschagne was seeking clarification at the end of the over as to whether the batsman had offered a shot, Wade pulled his teammate away telling him within earshot of the umpire that he had clearly set a precedent for the rest of the game.Matthew Wade of Australia."You tell me. I think we’ve been fantastic, I think both sides have played this series in good spirit," Paine said.

Man needs to sort himself out. Chirp away but dont deny it and say you're a bunch of great guys. That rat Warner hasnt changed and Wade has done fuck all in test cricket so needs to sit down.

In the face of overwhelming rorting, corruption and climate change, sport is pretty irrelevant, just a distraction from what’s important.

Stokes obviously knows Warner very well....

You have to love this gold nugget from Paine: 'I don't understand why so much is made of something so little, particularly given the standard of cricket being played.'

England's simple comeback is to tell the loudmouths to take a look at the scoreboard

Wade was doing it in the last test as well. Don't know how he thinks he has the right to mouth off, he is lucky to be in the side in the first place.

something else Paine got wrong....

Hero Smith and captain Paine fine just the way they areThe numbers don't lie and why mess with a good thing - Tim Paine must stay as skipper leaving Steve Smith to focus on what he does best. I think sporting psychologists will in the future refer to the “Paine syndrome, “A captain who leads through other people’s example”. History records it was originally observed in MikeBrearley in the early 1980s, but clincially diagnosed 40 years later
