Former coach's smackdown for Steve Smith

Warner hit an impressive century in NSW's opening Sheffield Shield match against Queensland, affirming the belief that he will keep his Test spot for the first match of this summer.

But. Is Steve Smith as guilty as Bancroft and Warner? Warner was the one who ordered Bancroft to sand the ball. Was Smith aware of what was happening? It happened on his watch so he had to face the consequences as captain . He's a leader in my view just not yet. 🏏

If experience is the best teacher then Steve Smith has had the best education over the last 18 months. If he is appointed again he will be his own man and not subject to the pressures certain other senior players placed upon him. Good times ahead.

Who cares what John Buchanan says. Steve Smith is the best captain bar none. He was only guilty of not being forceful enough to tell his players no. He has paid a very severe price for his part.
