Sky News host Peta Credlin says whether it's the GFC, the COVID crisis, or record-low interest rates, as far as Labor governments are concerned, any time is a good time to spend because "someone else's money is music to a socialist's ears". "Now I accept that having closed businesses down to save us from disease, the government had to spend to keep them on life support.

On Tuesday, Victoria's budget was released which will see the state be thrust into massive net-debt over the coming years. Flagging today's Victorian budget, Ms Credlin said Premier Daniel Andrews was "almost gloating" about all his new spending. "Thanks to sweetheart deals with the CFMEU – the same mob that gives the premier his muscle at polling booths on election day – labour costs in Melbourne are now the second-highest in the world, behind New York," she said.
