Amazon has applied to have its greenhouse gas emissions withheld from the public in Australia, amid international criticism for its lack of environmental transparency.

The CER is currently considering Amazon's application to keep greenhouse gas emissions and energy consumption in Australia secretThey have been criticised globally for lack of environmental transparency

In documents obtained by the ABC, Amazon claims that making their emissions data public could reveal to competitors a"trade secret" related to its data centres. To qualify for mandatory reporting through the CER, companies must have emitted at least 50 kilo-tonnes of greenhouse gases during the 2017-18 period, and reached other energy production or consumption thresholds. But other data centre providers — IBM and NextDC — produced around 50 and 180 thousand tonnes of carbon-dioxide-equivalent emissions respectively.

The document shows Amazon believes a trade secret and another"matter of commercial value" would be revealed by sharing the data, but the details are redacted.

Because they are scamming liars pretending to have zero emissions. The whole emissions thing is a load of made up garbage and goes totally against science and the laws of physics. If you could take the emissions and dump them on Mars life would cease one Earth.

Is this another dodgy international corporation bullying our government? Does our federal government have a reputation of rolling over for multinationals?
