A Vietnam Airlines flight was within one minute of landing at Melbourne Airport on Thursday morning when air traffic controllers were shocked to discover the Boeing 787 Dreamliner’s landing gear was still up.
The safety bureau could not confirm the altitude of the twin-engine plane when it was ascertained that the landing gear was still up. The Boeing 787 Dreamliner is less than three years old, and seats 264 people. The flight had come from Ho Chi Minh City to Melbourne.
There are multiple layers of control and while some clearly failed, one worked. Well done AirServices Australia
