The entire series was created by publisher Nelson Cengage in collaboration with the Australian Institute of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies and includes books, topic cards and QR-coded links to digital content such as videos, recordings of spoken Indigenous language and hundreds of rare photographs.
Each of the resources were cross-checked with the relevant Indigenous community before being publicly released. The books include stories of Indigenous people from across Australia including: award-winning Dark Emu author; Bruce Pascoe from the Boon Wurrung people of southern Victoria; Nai Nai Bird, elder of the Butchulla people from K'Gari in Queensland; and master songman Bill Yidumduma Harney, senior elder and custodian of the Wardaman people from the northern part of the Northern Territory.
Each story is accompanied by background information for teachers including a synopsis, teaching pathways, protocols, discussion points, learning activities and links to the Australian Curriculum.Ms Lawrence hoped it would be the start of a new era of Indigenous education in Australian primary schools.
