Sky News host Chris Kenny and veteran ABC journalist QuentinDempster have engaged in a fiery clash over “alarmist” coverage of the coronavirus crisis by Australia’s largest media organisations.

Sky News host Chris Kenny and veteran ABC journalist Quentin Dempster have engaged in a fiery clash over “alarmist” coverage of the coronavirus crisis by Australia’s largest media organisations.

Mr Kenny began by saying there had been “alarmist numbers at the ABC, in NewsCorp, in NineMedia” specifically focusing on potential Australian death tolls from the deadly virus. In a heated rebuke, Mr Dempster told Mr Kenny to “stop raising the media rivalry argument in this”. “You’re going onto some cheap retrospective shot about those media elements,” Mr Dempster said. “No I’ve been saying from the get go that some have been alarmist on this,” Kenny replied.
