The NSW Government faces significant opposition to its public sector pay freeze as the Shooters, Fishers and Farmers join Labor, the Greens and the Animal Justice Party in fighting the proposal.

The NSW Government won't be able to count on the all-important support of the Shooters, Fishers and Farmers party when it comes to pushing its public sector wage freeze through Parliament.Robert Borsak said it was more important public servants had the money to spend on essentials

The Government needs a majority in the Upper House to move its policy through and Treasurer Dominic Perrottet and Finance Minister Damien Tudehope have been meeting with cross-benchers to try and win their support. "We're always open to having a discussion with the Government to do things but when the Government comes to us with a final position of take it or leave it, that's not really the way you do business.

The Premier said the freeze was the fairest option after a horrific 12 months in NSW with billions spent on drought, bushfires, floods and now a health pandemic.Ms Berejiklian refused to give details on what options the Government would put on the table if the proposal flounders in the Upper House.

payfreezegood everyone else has either lost their job or taken a pay cut. So should the police and others. They should Sacrifice at least 20% of there pay policepayfreeze policepaycut

Can she cancel the pay rise to any politician if it came after the pandemic? It should be one rule for all!!!

GladysB this plus the wasted money on the ridiculous and excessive attempt to privatise public transport, and indulgent sports stadium we didn’t need just shows the contempt you have for your citizens.

Yeah we are all in it together RIGHT

Teachers and nurses deserve a pay rise

ElaineM11584892 Time to rid these rorters Next Elctn get rid of them.

The NSW pay freeze is a simplistic, populist non-solution What does the economy need? Money Who spends money? Those earning it in stable jobs Also, the income tax goes to the federal govt - what will we lose as a result of its reduced tax revenue flowing from this?

Let’s not forget that this isn’t a one-off $3 billion saving They’ll save those $ 3 billion every year from now on because those wages will always be lower than they would have been That seems like a lot 🤔🤔

PM and MP's first.

GladysB These frontworkers and public servants are the backbone of society picking up after our mess, I sure hope you will never need their service one day as your are bitting the hand that take care of you. Oh they do not live on the public purse like you do.

Get rid of this scum

Find it in your severance package, Gladys.

Fucking stinks when PM won't take a cut

You want to find savings, do you Gladys? Here's an idea, grab a mirror. Cut your own funding and increase the taxes on the businesses you are in bed with. Probably find the funding that way.

Cross bench give them nothing

That means job cuts

Damned if you do and damned if you don’t.. I’d really like to see more gratitude for those saving our lives and I mean those other than the front line workers

“We’re all in this together” unless you're a 7:36hr, paleo-pear bread munching, keyboard jockey.

GladysB didn't think she would cop some type of backlash over the wage freeze. Maybe if the times were different but not now when it hits frontline workers the hardest. Maybe Comm Mick Fuller could defer his $87K pay increase till times are better. Pollies need to help out also.

PorkBarilaro seems to have an untapped source of funds

Now if only we could do the same for TheirABC tax hoovers.

NSW Premier freezes public sector pay for 12 monthsBreaking: NSW public sector pay will be frozen for 12 months, as the state deals with the economic effects of the coronavirus crisis, Premier Gladys Berejiklian has announced So they freeze people pay but this politicians won’t take a pay cut...yeah that’s really prioritising who’s more essential politicians sitting in their asses doing nothing over thousands of workers trying to keep the economy running and saving lives 🤦🏻‍♀️🤨 Why don’t the politicians take a pay cut, stop pay rises for high pay grades and make sure the health and education staff get their pay rise! But, clearly this exempts all those who have turned up everyday throughout this pandemic at risk to themselves and their families? 'Essential worker exemption'? Because I am certain the state would want to acknowledge those that have kept us safe and well

Accept public sector pay freeze or jobs could be lost, NSW government tells parliamentNSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian has raised the possibility of public sector job losses amid the COVID-19 pandemic unless a proposed 12-month pay freeze is endorsed by parliament. The public sector needs to be audited and have any unesential jobs made redundant tis not fair for taxpayers to be propping up the bloated inefficient public sector at this triyng time 1/2 I hope you referring to the politicians who have wasted billions on bandaid solution after bandaid solution in almost all sectors in order to get through to the next election rather than implement appropriate long termcost saving strategies. Sorry, but if the public sector can't see the need for a twelve month freeze, given the present national situation, then perhaps it's time to start shedding some of the self interested.

NSW govt met with backlash over public sector pay freeze | Sky News AustraliaThe New South Wales government is trying to win support for its public sector pay-rise freeze. \n\nThe decision – which would see 400,000 public servants go without a pay-rise for 12 months - was met with a wave of criticism when announced on Wednesday. \n\nNSW Opposition leader Jodi McKay said the move would be a “punch in the guts” for those who worked on the frontline throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. \n\nState Treasurer Dominic Perrottet said the move was vital if New South Wales was to save current jobs in the public sector and create new jobs in the private sector. \n\nThe move, if successful, would come with the guarantee there would be no forced redundancies in the public sector other than senior executives. \n\nThe proposal, which would save an estimated $3 billion, will be reliant on support in the Upper House. Many have had NO PAY for three months & they'd have to pay for it. Anyone who aposes this shows their total disregard for struggling taxpayers at the hands of government mismanagement, sack anyone who does. Suffering for their art: creative accounting!?

Public servant wage freeze an insult to essential workers: ACTU | Sky News AustraliaACTU president Michele O’Neil says a 12-month wage freeze for the NSW public sector is an insult to thousands of essential workers who have worked to get the state through the coronavirus crisis. \n\n“That decision really does fly in the face of the very amazing work the public sector in all states has done. To think that health workers, nurses, firefighters, police, ambos and thousands of other workers are being thanked by getting a pay freeze, is a terrible decision by the NSW premier,” Ms O’Neil told Sky News. \n\n“Of course I agree there needs to be extra money spent on frontline services, but not at the expense of taking money out of the pay packets of the very people who’ve got us through this crisis.”\n\nNSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian announced a freeze for all 410,00 public sector employees on Wednesday and insisted nobody would be forced out of their job if they worked for the state government. \n\nMs O’Neil said Premier Berejiklian was just creating a “false economy”. \n\n“It’s bad for the economy and for small business ... I think (Ms Berejiklian) has got the fundamentals wrong,” she said. MicheleONeilAU Maybe she can donate her exorbitant wages or stop taking Union funds from members while the economy recovers.... Crickets MicheleONeilAU Get rid of the chair-warmers in public service that do nothing but collect pay in useless departments that are self-licking ice cream cones. unionsaustralia MicheleONeilAU weird how they can still give the police commissioner a raise 🤔
