I've never understood why there is even a second and third place award. The winner wins, everyone else didn't. As for gender, There is a physiological difference and a natural female athlete should be recognised for her efforts. No question.

This was a mixed-gender race, graded as mixed gender, paid as mixed gender. There’s clubs who hold women’s only grades and pay prize money, and they get the better participation numbers. Imagine not reading the conditions and then complaining about them on a National platform.
this is such clckbait gender wars rubbish. if its a graded race, gender doesn’t matter, your graded by ability not gentialia. There might be more women in lower grades because of male:female differences in power output, but within a grade it should be equal enough.

She was ‘denied prize money’ because she wasn’t in the top 3, not because she’s a woman. Sounds like her actual issue is that there is no women’s only competition, which means she’s at a disadvantage and unlikely to ever win a place.

If it’s a mixed gender race and you’re not in the top 3 then I’m not sure what you expect. Realistically, though, there definitely should be some recognition and reward given the effort they put in.
