The Federal Court releases the reasons why it upheld the federal government's decision to cancel the visa of tennis star Novak Djokovic, five days after he was deported from Australia.

The Federal Court has revealed the reasons why it rejected tennis star Novak Djokovic's challenge against the federal government's decision to cancel his visa.

The three judges found it was not irrational for the Mr Hawke to be concerned that the support of anti-vaccination groups for Djokovic may encourage protests and further community transmission. The world number one men's tennis player was deported from Australia late on Sunday after he failed in a bid to have the visa cancellation overturned.

Sorry but we've moved on to kids driving forklifts now

Most important reason: the rich and famous are already privileged enough. They have no right to being treated differently from everyone else when it comes to Covid related regulations just because the are rich and famous and can afford expensive lawyers.

Jesus Christ, don't ever hold anyone in high esteem, You might get them deported or something silly like that!

Federal Court said “ it was not irrational of Government Minister to think the presence of anti vaxxer Djokovic wld encourage “rallies”by impressionable youth. Matches involving Kyrgious“rallies” potentially transmission via unmasked youth.Oh the irony.

The most stupid explanation of a court decision I have read in my life. While Bernard Tomić played a full match at Australian Open with covid19 fever, the judges agreed that Novak, who Is healthy, PCR negative and with SARS CoV-2 antibodies im blood, is a danger for health!?

any which way the wind blows , it reeks.

This story is over and needs to be forklifted away.

So the gist is that you can't come into the country to play tennis if you hold an unpopular opinion about covid vaccinations but you can be a Liberal MP.

Well if he sues the government as reports contend it will be based on evidence and arguments not the Minister's 'vibe'.

The fact he was unvaccinated and may have lied about having Covid19 in Dec 20, should have enough. He also lied on his application stating he had not visited any other country. But some how forgot he went to Spain? The claim staff filled it in, he signed it! Should have reviewed

😡

They musta heard that he is suing us.

Now Novax Jokeavic is suing the Government for $6M for imprisonment and mental stress.. We should sue back for wasteing our time and resources

All occurring at a 'critical juncture' of the government's pandemic management - yes, just as Morrison & the 'herd immunity' ideologues were *pushing into let it rip, 'live with the virus' & Kelly, Clive Palmer et al were starring at rabid anti vax rallies 🙄

He was not vaccinated, the end.

I congratulate the winners of today's Australian Open tennis. Looking forward to more tennis tomorrow... and the day after.

Nobody has ever claimed that the vaccination reduces transmission. In fact the CDC and pfizer have specifically stated they don't. Therefore it actually IS irrational.

WeStandWithDjokovic He met ATAGI rules! He was treated terribly! Hope he sues and asks for a refund of the 2.5M he gave during the bush fires! AustraliaHasFallen

Have to honestly confess that after kids left home, the two of us agreed not to flush at night, so that we do not disturb each other while we sleep. With an ensuite, it was the right decision! 1 only of course!
